Conservation is the preservation of artwork using methods and materials that prevents, slows down, or arresting the deterioration of paper so you can be sure that your artwork is preserved for years to come.  It makes use of acid-free or ph-neutral matboards and foamboard backing, since regular matboards and backing has high acidity levels that can damage the artwork over time. UV-protected glazing is already recommended to protect the artwork from harmful UV rays that cause photo-degredation or color fading.

As such, conservation framing is recommended for your precious artworks.  Precious may be in the form of:

Historical value.  Anything over thirty years old is considered antique.  This can be graphic arts like antique maps.  This can also be non-current documents which are permanent and of enduring value: birth certificate, diploma.

Monetary value.  Monetary value is determined by the amount the customer paid for the artwork.  Examples are original fine arts and limited-edition prints.

Sentimental value. This covers objects which are prized “Not for love or money.” Rare photography that cannot be reproduced is one example.  Another is an artwork done by your children.
